Wireless Security Cameras

When I first received this camera, I was excited because I really wanted to have a wireless camera in the house to monitor the kids when they were in their play room, which is upstairs, away from our main living area.
To set it up, I had to connect it to the router first and plug it in, as the quick set-up suggested. It was easy enough, but very basic.
I decided to refer to the manual to actually learn everything there was to know about the camera. The manual had a bit more to it and showed me the screens I should be on while using the application on the computer, but it too was very basic.
While doing all of this, the manual suggested that I use the mobile application to access the camera feed. I went to the link provided to me to get the app, but the app wasn’t readily available in the Android Market. After consulting with the company, I learned that I had to download the app file to my computer and then download the app to my phone after connecting it to the computer.
After doing all of that and finally getting all of that to work, I tried to connect the camera wirelessly. I once again consulted the manual and followed all of the steps. No matter what I did, I could not get the camera to connect wirelessly. I consulted the WatchBot website and watched some of their tutorials, but I just couldn’t get it to work. I did a search for the issue, and it turns out that I wasn’t the only one with the problem and that I would have had to go through some technical extra steps (switching from WPA to WEP or try port forwarding) to get my router to connect to the camera.
At that point, I was thoroughly frustrated, to be very honest.
There’s good news, however! WatchBot, in response to many users’ complaints, have updated their setup instructions and their computer program!
Following the new instructions, I was easily able to not only use the camera when it was connected to the router, but also use the camera via WiFi! I can’t tell you how happy I am to be able to actually use the camera now!
The mobile app still needs some work, but I was able to get that up and running as well.
SUGGESTION: As with any wireless camera, you need to set up a password so that others cannot access your camera. I was able to do this easily so that only those with the password can use/view my camera.
Here’s my experience of using the camera:
Now that they have updated their program and the manual, I would have to say that I recommend the WatchBot 3.0 to anyone looking for a home or business security system. It retails for around $252.56 for one camera, but they have deals for multiple cameras.
