My kids love the KiwiCo subscription boxes they get every month. KiwiCo’s monthly subscription boxes, called crates, are filled with age appropriate STEAM projects for kids and even adults, from ages 0-104!
If you don’t already know, STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. That means that the KiwiCo crates can have anything from super fun science experiments to creative and innovative art projects.
Best part is, they’re not just one-and-done kind of projects. Many can be used over and over again in a variety of ways!
Awesome STEAM Subscription Boxes for Kids
KiwiCo has 8 different lines of subscription boxes for kids. Each one is tailored to certain ages groups and different areas of STEAM.
Panda Crate (ages 0-24 months): This crate can help babies learn by playing, exploring, and interacting with the adults in their lives. These crates arrive every other month and are filled with two-months’ worth of activities!
Koala Crate (ages 2-4): This crate is perfect for preschoolers. It contains fun hands-on activities to encourage curiosity and imagination with play-based learning.
Kiwi Crate (ages 5-8): This crate delivers young innovators all the materials and inspiration needed for fun hands-on projects that explore art, science, and engineering.
Atlas Crate (ages 6-11): This crate inspires kids’ sense of adventure and curiosity. Activities are designed to show kids different aspects of culture from other parts of the world.
Tinker Crate (ages 9-16+): This crate gives young innovators the opportunity to discover and learn about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) through hands-on projects and activities.
Doodle Crate (ages 9-16+): This crate encourages kids to experiment with art and design techniques with a variety of hands-on projects.
Eureka Crate (ages 14+): This crate teaches kids and young adults to use principles of science and math to come up with solutions and make objects they can continue to use every day.
Maker Crate (ages 14+): This crate is great for learning new crafting and design techniques. Each finished project is both fun and functional to create.
There really is a KiwiCo Crate for everyone!
KiwiCo Review
Last year, my three oldest kiddos were gifted the Maker Crate, the Tinker Crate, and the Doodle Crate. They looked forward to when they arrived and LOVED to put together their projects!

What Comes in the Kiwi Crates?
Not only do they come with the projects/activities, they come with almost all of the tools/parts needed to complete them!
In each KiwiCo Crate is:
- Instructions Booklet, with a link to view a video of the instructions online
- Tools needed to create the projects
- Ingredients/Pieces/Parts needed to complete projects
- Extra Ingredients/Pieces/Parts
I love that they have instructional videos online for each box. If the written directions are unclear, the videos help to clear everything up. It’s also better for visual learners who would benefit from watching someone else.
I also love that there’s very few times that I need to get anything extra for the kids to complete their projects. Almost everything they need is in the box!
Are KiwiCo Crates Worth It?
Yes, KiwiCo Crates are definitely worth it! There is so much value in every crate.
What I love about these boxes is that the projects are things that can be used over and over again, like the leather portfolio my youngest son made or the pillow and working table lamp that my oldest made.
