Did you know that you learn more when you involve more than one of your senses? It’s true! For example, when your kids write spelling words and spell them out loud at the same time, they are enhancing their memory of those spellings! It even works if your child touches each letter as they read them out loud.
The LeapFrog Word Whammer helps your kids learn their letters by getting more than one of their senses involved with active play. Yes, playing can help them learn!
Word Whammer features:
- 3 action packed games
- 5 learning levels
- Active play for ages 4+
The Word Whammer works by using a handle to either thrust or spin to complete tasks such as blasting a rocket to spell 100+ words, matching upper and lower case letters as a car bumps the correct answer, or spinning a tea cup after listening to letter sounds to find the correct letter.
The games are set up in a carnival-like atmosphere, with a different animal in each game. A penguin spins in a teacup for letter recognition. A panda bumps around upper and lower case letters. A dragon flies on a rocket to spell words.
My kiddos have so much fun as they learn their letters and sounds! It took them some time to get used to how the handle works, but once they got the hang of it, they were enjoying learning!

My four year old uses Word Whammer the most as it is geared towards her age. She likes to play the Penguin TeaCups game to match letters the best.
Even my two year old gets in on the fun! He may not always get the right answer, but he is being exposed to letters and sounds. He gets so excited when he hears a letter or sound he recognizes!
I really like that this is small enough to bring along anywhere we go. It’s going to be handy when the kids travel around with us this holiday season!
Many thanks to LeapFrog for sending us the Word Whammer to review!
