Visiting Hersheypark for Christmas? Here’s what to bring along with you if you go to Hersheypark Christmas Candylane.
What is Hersheypark Christmas Candylane?
Hersheypark Christmas Candylane is a SWEET holiday experience at Hersheypark where you can go on your favorite Hersheypark rides and coasters, see over 4 million lights, watch a lightshow, visit with Santa, meet real live reindeer, see a trail of decorated trees, and so much more!
Hersheypark Christmas Candylane is open select dates until through January 1, 2023.
As a member of the 2021 Sweetest Families, my family and I have been gifted Hersheypark Season Passes to use throughout the year so that we could get a real taste of what it’s like to visit the park all year long. All opinions are mine based on experience.
What to Bring to Hersheypark During the Holidays
If you’re going to visit Hersheypark Christmas Candylane, you should bring these items along (some items subject to weather):
- tickets/season passes
- money for parking (except for some season pass holders)
- money for food/souvenirs
- a warm winter coat or jacket
- warm gloves or mittens
- a warm hat or ear muffs
- hand warmers
- anti-nausea medicine or bracelet for wild rides
- sunglasses (for daytime hours)
- smartphone (you can use the Hersheypark app to find your way!)
- smartphone portable charger
- hand sanitizer (Try this homemade hand sanitizer recipe)
- travel pack of tissues for winter sniffles
- bag or backpack to carry everything
Not gonna lie: here in PA, it can be cold in the winter, but there are some balmy winters here as well. If you’re going to visit Hersheypark Christmas Candylane, you’ll want to be prepared for both kinds of weather. It can be warm during the day, but once the sun goes down and the temps drop, it gets pretty cold.
We carry a backpack with extra gloves and hats for everyone (don’t forget, I have 4 kiddos!).
How to Stay Warm at Hersheypark Christmas Candylane
Since it can get pretty cold here in PA, here are a few ways to stay warm while in Hersheypark:
Visit with Santa. Visit with Santa in Santa’s Candy Cottage, located in the Kissing Tower Hill area. Kids can take pictures with Santa and tell him their Christmas wishes. (Note: Lines might get long for this !)
Ride an indoor ride. Of the rides that are open, Laff Trakk, Reese’s Cupfusion, and the Kissing Tower all give you a chance to warm up inside while still enjoying rides. Just keep in mind that you may have to wait outside for a bit in line still before boarding!
Visit the indoor animal exhibits at ZooAmerica. Even though there are animals like bears, wolves, deer, elk, and mountain lions that enjoy being outdoors, many of ZooAmerica’s inhabitants prefer a warmer climate indoors. Visit with these creatures in the Southern Swamps and Great Southwest buildings to get a break from the chilly winter air.
Fill up on a warm treat. In Hersheypark, you can find specialty s’mores treats, DELICIOUS mini-donuts, roasted nuts, hot pretzels, and many other foods that will warm up your insides.
Get a Hot Chocolate. There’s nothing like some hot chocolate to warm you up and put you in a holiday mood.
TIP: Get the All Day Souvenir Mug Deal when you get your ticket online and you can drink FREE all day on the day of your visit at Hot Chocolate Express locations only, and receive $1 refills for the remainder of the Christmas Candylane season.
Grab a snack or a meal in Chocolatetown. In Chocolatetown (the new entrance to the park), there are 3 restaurants you can visit: The Chocolatier Restaurant, Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, and Sweeterie Confectionary Kitchen.
Stop in for a souvenir. Check out all of the awesome souvenirs to bring home to remind you of Hersheypark in the Hershey Supply Co. store, HP Collections, or any of the other open souvenir shops in Hersheypark.
