Personalized Photo Blankets for the Family
“Mom! We’re on a blanket!” my fournado shouted, holding up the first of two personalized photo blankets that came in the mail. “The drawings Dad made of us are on a blanket!”
“It’s like a painting of us,” my six year old aspiring artist proclaimed, holding up a second blanket. “It’s so pretty and SO SOFT! It’s mine!”
Oldest kiddo steps up. “Um, I’m bigger than you, and that’s a big blanket. It’s mine.”
Not to be outdone, the toddler grabs at the first blanket and shouts “MINE!”
At least I know these personalized photo blankets from Collage.com are a hit! I knew that when I agreed to receive these blankets for a review that I would not be disappointed. They are perfect for the whole family, keeping us warm and helping to preserve our memories.
How to Make a Photo Blanket Online
It’s actually quite easy to make a personalized photo blanket using Collage.com. They offer six different types of photo blankets in a variety of sizes, and have also added new design tools that make designing a blanket a breeze.
- Upload an image(s) to the website. You can upload an image from your computer, your smartphone, or a social media site of your choosing. (Note: Depending on the size of the blanket, Instagram photos may end up with a lot of blank background. Square photos are great for collages though!)
- Choose the size of your blanket and texture. I highly suggest doing this before you edit the image(s). Choose from fleece, plush fleece, sherpa, printed woven, and woven image. Based on your selection, you can then choose the size you prefer.
- Edit your image(s) using the new design tools. Change the layout, coloring, background, add text, and more.
- Add your blanket to the cart.
Upload, edit, order. Done!
Using Photo Apps to Add a Little More Flair
When I got the chance to create two blankets, I decided to get a little more artsy with it. I like their design tools and find them easy to use, but I wanted a little more for the images I chose to use.
I just couldn’t get the right look for this image with my kids, so I added a filter using the smartphone app PictsArt, and then uploaded it to Collage.com. Using the text tool I then added text at the bottom of the blanket design.
I love the whimsical feel to it, don’t you? It looks like it was made from watercolors.
Photo Collage Blanket
For my second blanket, I wanted so badly to use superhero drawings my husband did of our kids. Problem was the drawings were all in various stages.
Again I used PicsArt to add a filter to the images. I also turned them into a collage and directly loaded that image to Collage.com. Using the design tools I added the background and text on the back.
I wasn’t sure how this image would come out on the blanket, but again, I was not disappointed. Even my husband loves the design and how it came out (see below)!
Personalized Fleece Blankets
It wasn’t hard for me to decide what type of blanket I wanted my first blanket to be.
When I last reviewed a blanket from Collage.com, I ordered it in a standard fleece material. While it was nice and the image was incredible, I was afraid to let the kids use it and have it destroyed.
This time, I ordered the plush fleece, and let me tell you:
IT IS AMAZING!
The plush fleece is twice as thick as the normal fleece. I would definitely order a blanket in this texture again!
I opted to have it printed on both sides. On the back is where I added the kids’ names and the year.
Personalized Sherpa Blankets
For my other blanket, I chose the plush sherpa made from sherpa artic fleece. While the image isn’t printed on the sherpa itself, the fleece top is backed with the cream-colored sherpa giving it the warm and cozy feel.
The image on the blanket, printed on fleece, looks like a painting you’d find in a gallery. The print job is just that nice.
And the softness… Oh the glorious softness! The sherpa adds a comfort and warmth that is incredible.
Sorry, kids! This one is Mom’s! I ordered the 60 x 80 so it fits on my queen sized bed.
