Kids Shows
Do you monitor the shows your kids watch? What kinds of kids shows do you approve of for preschool aged kids?
We have our favorite TV shows like those on PBS Kids, but the kids get bored with them, so I was excited to work with Mom Central and Amazon Studios to preview their new kids show, Tumble Leaf.
What is Amazon Studios?
Amazon Studios is a platform where creators can submit shows or movie projects and get real feedback from audiences. Since not everyone has the right connections in Hollywood, these creators get a unique chance to submit their projects and get the kind of feedback they need to continue moving forward.
This platform is open worldwide, but some of it’s most notable writers and filmmakers are from the US, Canada, the UK, China, Zimbabwe, the Dominican Republic, and other countries.
Quite a few of the Amazon Original Series got their start on Amazon Studios as pilots, all thanks to great feedback from Amazon Studios reviewers!
Amazon Studios is not only for the creators. If you like to critique shows or movies, then this is the place for you to share your opinions during the early stages of projects. You can get access to scripts, suggest changes, view videos, and much more!
Tumble Leaf
Tumble Leaf is a show that got is start on Amazon Studios and is now an Amazon Original. Created by Drew Hodges, it’s a first-ever kids series from Amazon Studios that debuted on May 23rd on Prime Instant Video.
About the show:
Each episode of Tumble Leaf follows a day in the life of “Fig the fox” who lives in a
wrecked schooner ship by the sea and his best friend “Stick,” a caterpillar who lives in a tiny basket strapped to Fig’s forearm, as they discover adventure, friendship and love around every bend. At the start of each day, Fig and Stick are eager to play and discover new things about his world, with his eyes, ears, mind and heart open to inspiration. By playing with an object that he finds in his “finding place” in each episode, he learns about science, critical thinking and the world around him.
I was sent a DVD to preview the show, and my kids were very excited. They love being reviewers!
Here’s what my son, age 6, thinks about Tumble Leaf: “Tumble Leaf is awesome because it has really fun characters. They are so funny! Stick is my favorite. He’s really cute. Can we watch it again, Mom?”
My daughter, age 3, said: ” It’s da best an’ cute!”
I like that the show encourages critical thinking. Every day, Fig the Fox learns more about how the world works and how to solve problems just by playing with a simple object placed in his ‘finding place’ by a curious crab down on the beach. He brings the item along on his daily adventures with his friends and makes observations about how the item works and how it can help solve problems.
The show is very colorful and entertaining. My son, who is a very active child and hardly sits still, was captivated by Tumble Leaf and wanted to watch the preview DVD over and over again!
Here’s a snippet of the show:
I recommend this show to anyone with preschoolers at home!
