Why do we make New Year Resolutions we can’t keep? Here are 7 New Year Resolution Ideas anyone can keep!
New Year Resolution Ideas That You Can Keep All Year
Many of us snicker when we hear New Year Resolutions, because we all know one universal truth: we’ll stick to these goals for about a week and then go on with life as usual.
Why? The resolutions are often too hard to keep!
Why Are Resolutions So Hard to Keep?
Many of the resolutions that are made, although made with good intentions, often require bigger or more involved lifestyle changes than we’re ready for once the New Year actually rolls around.
I mean, think about one of the top resolutions people make: losing weight or having a healthier lifestyle. It’s a great resolution to make, but not many people actually take the time to really think about how they’re going to reach that goal. They just proclaim the resolution, and then sit back and kinda wait for things to just happen.
Instead, it’s better to actually sit down and create a plan of how you’re going to reach your goal, what you might need to have before you start, what might deter you along the way, and how long you have to reach the goal.
Making a plan in this manner can actually help you keep those more involved resolutions for longer than those who just hope for the best.
But what if you don’t want to make any big plans? It’s best to stick with resolutions that are simple and easy to keep!
Don't want to plan too many lifestyle changes that are difficult to keep? Make resolutions that are simple and easy to do daily. #NewYear #NewYearResolutionIdeasNew Year Resolutions That Are Easy to Keep
Here’s a list of 7 resolutions that ANYONE can keep!
Find a reason to smile at least once a day.
Taking the time to think about what makes you happy can actually brighten up your day. It’s as simple as thinking about a loved one or listening to your favorite song to cheer you up.
Do random acts of kindness without seeking praise.
These days, a lot of people are very into random acts of kindness, but then they post their actions on social media, hoping for that good feeling they will get when other people ‘like’ or comment on their post in praise.
But what happens when that praise doesn’t come?
Instead, do random acts of kindness just for the fact that it can make someone else’s day a whole lot better.
You can definitely keep these New Year Resolutions! #newyear #happynewyear #resolutionsTry to live life to the fullest.
Okay, I’ll admit that this one sounds tough, but it doesn’t have to be. To ‘live life to the fullest’ is to get out of your comfort zone and try something new for a change. It can be as simple as trying a new restaurant or making a change in your daily routine.
We often get stuck in ruts in life. We stay at home moms have a similar routine that might go something like this: get up, get kids ready for school, do chores, make lunch, do more chores, make dinner, sit on social media for a while, go to bed.
Why not read a book instead of scrolling through Instagram? Why not go for a walk after lunch? Why not drive to the next town over to do your grocery shopping?
Even little things like that can broaden your life experiences and help you live life to your fullest.
Find something that truly makes you happy.
What makes you truly happy and brings you joy? Is it reading a good book? Is it traveling? Is it building something with your hands?
Find what makes you happy, and do it as often as possible.
Be present with your spouse, kids, family, and friends.
We’re so ‘busy’ all the time. Busy being moms. Busy taking care of the house. Busy doing chores. Busy taking care of the kids. Busy, busy, busy.
Step away from responsibilities every now and again to ‘be present’ with your spouse, kids, family, and friends.
What exactly does ‘be present’ mean? It means to do something meaningful that will bring you closer together.
Can you find the time to 'be present' in the New Year? #newyear #newyearresolutionsHave family game night on the weekends. Go out with your friends. Plan an activity that your family can accomplish together.
And, this might be difficult for some of us, but…
Look up from your gadgets more.
We often get so absorbed in the world of social media that we forget to look up and enjoy the world around us.
While it’s fine to catch up on what you missed, put down the gadgets (especially while you’re driving!!) and do something meaningful in the real world.
Find at least one positive in every situation.
This one can be super tough, particularly when you’re faced with a negative situation or troublesome times.
Of course, this one is dependent on your situation. If you can’t quite think of anything at the time, think about how grateful you are to still be breathing or that the sun rose to shine for another day.
