Thanks to Disney Parks and MomSelect, I was selected to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration to show my family’s Disney Side! We decided to have a super fun Mickey Mouse Party!
Remember when I received that giant box of goodies from Disney? Here’s a recap:
Basically, I had to take what was in the box and use what I could to make a great Disney Side party to share the love of Disney with my family.
For my Disney Side party, I decided to host it as a cousin get together. Every few months, my cousins on my mother’s side like to get together to catch up, so what better way to do it than to show our love of Disney!
While it wasn’t a requirement, some of my guests wore Disney shirts and accessories. My daughter, who originally started out in her favorite Minnie Mouse outfit, changed to her Little Mermaid costume to have some fun!
And my youngest sister got in on the Disney fun too!
Mickey Mouse Party Decorations
While I used many of the great pieces from my Disney Side @Home Celebrations Box, I also had awesome decorations from Imagination Party Events. Amber makes some creative party decorations, like the Mickey and Minnie Mouse centerpieces and the Mickey Mouse Wreath. She provided me with the backdrop too, completing the look.
Mickey Mouse Party Menu
You just gotta love the menu at fun parties like this! While our main dish was pizza, we also had:
- Nachos Grande, made with delicious Beyond Beef. It’s simple to make–just layer tortilla chips, Beyond Beef, mexi-blend cheese, olives, chives, and salsa and bake for 10 minutes at 350°. YUM!
- Mickey and Minnie Oreo Balls, made with crushed Oreos and cream cheese dipped in chocolate with mini-marshmallows as ears (made by my cousin Britney). SOOO GOOD!
- Mickey Mouse Chocolate cupcakes with mini Oreos as ears (made by my cousin Megan). YUMMY (and Weight Watcher’s approved)!!
The centerpiece of course was the Mickey Mouse tie-dyed cake. I made it with the Duff Tie-Dye Cake Mix that came in my kit. I used Wilton Buttercream with tint for the face and tongue, and mini-chocolate chip morsels for the ears and head.
There were of course other party staples like chips, pretzels, veggies and dip, so we were STUFFED by the end of the night!
Mickey Mouse Party Fun
Some of my cousins and my sisters have been to Disney, so they were sharing their favorite things to do and see in conversation. We also were kinda playing ‘Name that Tune/Movie’ as my Disney station on Pandora was playing on my little bluetooth speaker in the background as we were chatting.
We had a lot of fun playing the Disney version of Apples to Apples. We have been playing the original Apples to Apples at our summertime family get togethers, so I knew we’d have fun with this version. It’s a little different than the original due to the Poison Apple cards, which turn the green card into an opposite word. Not familiar with the game? Read this to see how it’s played.
Disney Side @Home Celebrations
Here are some of the fun things my guests got in their gift bags:
I made the cups and the frames.
The Mickey Mouse Frames were pretty easy and affordable to make. I bought a pack of 10 foam frames and then wrapped them in Mickey Mouse Duct Tape. I added magnets to the back too.
My guests loved the gift bags! All in all, we had a great time getting together and showing our Disney Sides!
Thank you to the sponsors!!
