Re-Play Recycled Review
Don’t you love when your friends make awesome kid product recommendations? A friend of mine shared a Facebook post one day about Re-Play No-Spill cups and a current deal they were having to try one for free. At that point, I had never heard of the brand and since we’re always looking for new sippy cups to replace older ones, I took the plunge and ordered the cup.
When the cup came, it looked so simple. I mean, it was just a cup, a lid, and a valve with a replacement. The color was pretty, (I’m always drawn to aqua-colored things), but other than that, I couldn’t figure out what made these cups so special.
That is, until I did my research.
When I got a set of Re-Play utensils (in aqua again) in my MommyCon Mystery Box, I decided to check out the company. They make Re-Play products from recycled materials, specifically milk jugs, to keep them out of the landfills. The products are also manufactured, assembled, and tested in the USA.
In fact, the products help to reduce greenhouse gases and save energy by only having to travel 940 miles from start to finish, compared to approximately 12,000 miles overseas products travel!
I then saw Re-Play at MommyCon NYC and was so excited! My husband and I bought a stack of their plates in rainbow, and I received more utensils in my media gift bag from the event, so our collection steadily began to grow.
Safe Children’s Tableware
Re-Play sent me the Complete Toddler Feeding Set to review . The Feeding Set includes:
- 1 Divided plate,
- 1 Flat plate,
- 1 Bowl,
- 1 No-Spill cup,
- 1 Drinking cup,
- 1 Utensil Pair,
- 1 Snack Pod
It’s a great starter set for anyone new to Re-Play!
How are Re-Play Products Made?
Re-Play uses recycled HDPE plastic, which is basically the plastic used for milk jugs. HDPE doesn’t have chemicals found in other types of plastics, which means it is:
- BPA-free
- BPS-free
- PVC-free
- Phthalates-free
- Melamine-free
Each product saves a certain number of milk jugs from ending up in a landfill. So if you have a no-spill cup, a set of utensils, and a divided plate, you saved 7 milk jugs from the landfill!
Did you know?
- When you recycle a 1-gallon milk jug, it saves enough energy to keep a 100-watt bulb burning for 11 hours.
- Just one pound of recycled plastic saves enough energy to power a 32” LCD TV for 3 days.
- Just one pound of recycled plastic saves enough energy to charge a smartphone for 31 weeks.
- Just one pound of recycled plastic saves enough energy to charge an electric car for 6 hours. (via Re-Play.com)
Re-Play Recycled Cups
There are three types of Re-Play Recycled cups: soft spout cups, no-spill cups, and drinking cups. The soft spout cups have a leak resistant, one piece, easy clean silicone spout, while the no-spill cups have a leak resistant removable silicone valve on the inside. Lids for both the soft spout cups and the no-spill cups are interchangeable, so you can have fun mixing colors!
While I don’t have a soft spout yet, I do have two no-spill cups and one drinking cup. They are the perfect size for kids’ hands. The no-spill cups have not leaked at all, but the valve and spout can be a little difficult for the baby to use at times.
Re-Play Recycled Plates
Re-Play plates come either divided or flat. Both kinds have deep walls so that toddlers who are learning to use utensils have an easier time. I really like that feature because it means less mess!
The plates are very lightweight, making it easy for kids to carry them from the table to the sink. They can be put in the dishwasher on the top rack to be cleaned, but they cannot be used in the microwave.
My kids like to use them because they are so colorful. I like to use them myself because they help me keep my portions just right!
Re-Play Kids Utensils
Re-Play utensils are designed with toddlers in mind. The spoons have a deep scoop and the forks have durable, rounded tips for safety. They are also dishwasher safe.
Re-Play Snack Stack
The Re-Play Recycled Snack Stacks are probably my favorite product. I love that they stack together (can be mixed and matched) for easy storage. I can store different snacks for each of my kids in the same unit, but have it all in one place in my diaper bag!
I hope you learned something from my Re-Play review! Many thanks to Re-Play for the review set and for making such great, eco-friendly products!
