What’s in Beech Nut Baby Food?
When you’re feeding your baby, don’t you want to know what they’re eating? For this reason, many moms make their own baby food, but for those who don’t wouldn’t you want to know what’s in the baby food you’re buying?
Beech-Nut Baby Food wants you to know what they put in their baby food. You may have heard about it in the news or on social media lately, how they are going to be fully transparent in telling consumers what is in their baby food. In fact, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, or CSPI, has published a post about how Beech Nut is doing the right thing in telling consumers exactly what they’re buying, and that other manufacturers should follow suit. See that story here.
While not on the labels yet, the percentage breakdown of ingredients in Beech Nut Baby Food jars and pouches can be found on their website, as seen in the image below.
I highly suggest you visit the site to see the ingredients they use. You can click on any product and see exactly what’s in the recipe!
“All parents want what’s best for their babies, and they want to know exactly what they are eating,” said Jeff Boutelle, president of Beech-Nut. “We don’t want parents to worry about the foods they’re feeding their babies, which is why we’re sharing our recipes.”
Basically, what you see is what you get, and nothing more. That is why they call their foods “Real Food for Babies”, not “baby food”.
To make this real food for babies, Beech-Nut used “just gentle cooking™”, which involves finding the best quality ingredients as close to home as possible, cold pureeing the food so that it doesn’t lose nutrients, not adding artificial ingredients, indirectly heating the food so that no extra water is added, and putting the food into their BPA-free glass jars. They wanted this process to be just like homemade food was made, without all the extra ingredients and steps that might be taken otherwise with other brands of baby food.
Wouldn’t this be the kind of baby food you’d want for you baby?

Beech Nut Baby Food Reviews
Last year, when my little guy was just about a year old, I had the chance to review Beech Nut Natural Baby Food. I still remember how surprised I was to see how colorful the foods looked in the jars! You just don’t see that kind of color in other kinds of baby foods.
Why is there such vibrant color? It’s real food, not watered down or made with cheap purees.
That is what I’d want to feed my baby!

First of all I love the jars – I have craft visions already with those new jars. I was a wreck when my kids were little – always worrying about what I was feeding them. This baby food is reliable, safe and predictable and they place it all on the label. Perfect.

Great review! It’s nice to know there are some great companies out there that are transparent enough to label all the ingredients on their products, as it should be. Kudos to Beech Nut!

I love Beechnut and I love them even more for being completely transparent to us parents!! I made all my own baby food except when we were on the go… and then I used beechnut!! They were great and I was comforted knowing that what I was giving my baby wasnt full of fillers!

This is very good baby food and my sister uses it on my nephew and he likes it. I have tasted this baby food and it tastes like it is homemade and has a fresh taste. Beech Nut really is getting it right with this healthy baby food!

Any company that isn’t transparent is really just hurting themselves.

Thanks for this post. It’s really scary to go to the grocery store and looking for a healthy option of baby food. I want to only give my baby the best, of course, but when you don’t know what’s best it’s difficult. I’ve used BEechnut before and will continue to because I see that’s its made from natural ingredients! thanks!
